Kevin J. O’Malley, a dad, brother, friend, coach, and mentor to many, suddenly passed away on Monday May 24, 2021 at his home in Middleboro. Kevin is survived by his three sons, Jeffrey (Bean), Timothy, and Stephen O’Malley who he loved deeply and his former wife Beth O’Malley, all of Lakeville. In addition to his sons and former wife, Kevin is survived by his six siblings, Edward C. O’Malley, Jr. and his wife Diana of Hingham, Mary E. Lydon and her late husband Barry T. Lydon of Braintree, Janet M. and her husband Steve McEleney of So. Winsor CT, Paul G. O’Malley of Newton, Nancy M. O’Malley and her husband Martin Boelitz of Dorchester, Robert A. O’Malley of Provincetown, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Edward C. O’Malley, Sr. mother Madeline M. (O’Hara) O’Malley of Quincy. Kevin grew up in Quincy and attended Boston College High School. He later attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he graduated with a degree in Economics, and then went on to attend Suffolk University Law School where he earned his law degree. He began his career as an attorney at Wynn & Wynn in 1986 where he practiced for over 35 years becoming a managing partner at the firm. Kevin will be fondly remembered for his love of life, family, and friends; his passion for charitable work and philanthropy; his dedication to the Lakeville Community through coaching and mentorship; his unique sense of humor, and his contagious laugh. An avid cyclist, he logged thousands of miles training for and riding in both the Pan Mass Challenge and Best Buddies Challenge, causes that were near and dear to his heart. Those who knew him knew that there was always room for another name to carry on his helmet. He rode in the PMC for 12 consecutive years and personally raised over $100,000 on behalf of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and inspired many others to join him in the cause. His generosity extended across the world where he volunteered his time with Clemency Uganda, organizing a sports camp for local children and helping to support the local community in Jinja, Uganda. In his true nature of generosity, Kevin was a proud organ donor. Kevin seldom missed a Boston sports game, eagerly awaited the next Bruce concert, always enjoyed a cold beer on Mayflower Beach, and sincerely loved his dogs, especially Sadie Marie. Above all else, he always enjoyed the ride.
