Linda Lois (Austin) Greene

Passing away June 10, Linda Lois Greene left a life fully lived at 84 with four children, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and countless friends remembering her fondly.

Introduced to the world on October 7, 1941, in Middleborough, MA to parents Melvin LW Austin (1899-1957) and Beatrice Hill (Nickerson) Austin (1902-1967), Linda and her older sisters Beatrice Ann Belmont, Phyllis Ann Dunn, and her baby brother Thomas grew up in a home on Fuller Street.

Linda matriculated through the Middleboro school system, graduating from MHS as a member of the class of 1959. She would later continue her studies at Southeastern for her LPN and Massasoit Community College culminating with her RN. Linda practiced at Cardinal Cushing/Good Samaritan Hospital for decades. She found great joy, duty, and honor in caring for others.

Linda left us to join the choir invisible alongside her husband H. Daniel Greene, sisters Beatrice and Phyllis, brother Tommy, grandson Jonathan Jeffrey Irving (delighted to be reunited with his dear grandma he lovingly called "Darlin'"), and more who welcomed her with open arms alongside her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Linda and Danny raised a loving family for half a century on West Bridgewater's Ash Street, in a home built by Danny and decorated by Linda. Linda and Dan cared for and were blessed with four children and their spouses: Robert D. Greene & his wife Victoria, Robin L. Burns & her husband Kevin, Deborah L. Irving & her husband Brian, and Matthew C. Greene and his wife Katia. Further enriching Linda's life were seven grandchildren: Jonathan J. Irving, Jacob D. Greene, Benjamin E. Greene, Kevin D. Burns, Jeremy I. Irving, Adam C. Burns & Elsie A. T. Greene; and five great-grandchildren: Isabella, Hank, Hudson, Amelia, and Dita. She was a beloved aunt to many including her nephews and nieces Harry, Lynne, and John with whom she had Sunday dinner nearly every week. On Ash Street they lived and loved alongside family members including Dan's family (parents Harry & Cappy, sister Nancy Tibbets & her family, sister Carol Phelan & her family, and brother Bill & his family) and many family pets including Linda's beloved golden retriever Scoutie.

She leaves behind dear friends: Shirley Jackson who she knew since childhood; Pat & Sean Corwin and Maria Muller who were (more than) work friends & traveling buddies working at Cardinal Cushing/Good Sam and traveling to Nantucket, Maine, and Florida. Linda was a member of the First Congregational Church at the Green in Middleboro, where she could be found worshipping the Lord since the 1970s. She spent years serving on West Bridgewater's Conservation Commission, caring for and protecting local wildlife & wetlands from over-development, pollution, and, at times, her husband. An avid traveler, Linda would often take trips with family and friends to Sebago Lake, Scusset Beach, Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard, Maine, Michigan, the Caribbean Islands, Walt Disney World (many, many times), and now beyond the pearly gates to the undiscovered country.

Linda's family will celebrate with visiting hours at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home at 280 Bedford Street in Lakeville on Thursday, June 18 from 5-8pm and with a service Friday, June 19 at 11am at the First Congregational Church at the Green at 6 Plympton Street in Middleboro. According to her wishes, Linda's ashes will find rest along Nantucket Sound in a private family service.

Linda is loved, remembered, and missed dearly.
