Lyle Hawkins, 75, of Raynham was reunited with his love, his wife Debbie (Burnell) Hawkins, when he passed away peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the Life Care Center of Raynham. Born in Chelsea, MA, on Wednesday, September 10, 1947, he was the son of the late Lyle C. Hawkins and the late Evelyn L. (Newman) Hawkins. Always a joker and good for a laugh, he will be greatly missed by friends, family, and loved ones.
A graduate of Dover-Sherborn High School, Lyle went on to be an airplane mechanic while serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his time in the Air Force, he went through a number of different trades before landing at the VA Hospital in Brockton as a Nursing Assistant for many years before his retirement. After retiring, he was always happy keeping to his favorite hobbies of gardening, birdwatching, and his weekly card games with his closest buddies. He was a supporter of his fellow veterans and the Wounded Warrior Project. He also enjoyed local travels and dining out with his wife Debbie before her passing in 2013.
Lyle is survived by his daughters, Kira E. Stiles of Raynham and Karin A. Sullivan and her husband Robert of Bridgewater, four grandchildren, Brittney L. Stiles, Ariana E. Stiles, William F. Sullivan, and Adam R. Sullivan, a brother David C. Hawkins and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved sister Rosemary Nadon of Burrillville, RI, with whom he had a close bond and would always look forward to their daily calls.
A graveside service for Lyle will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 10:00AM, at Cedar Knoll Cemetery, 175 Staples Street, East Taunton, MA 02718. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
