Maria A. Born on August 7, 1941, in Madeira, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Joquina (Rodrigues) DeAguiar and the loving wife of the late Francisco G. Freitas.
In her lifetime, Maria made her home in Assonet, MA, where she dedicated her career as an assembler in the electronics industry, contributing her skills at Keithly Instruments. A devout member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, she exemplified kindness and warmth throughout her life. Maria possessed a remarkable talent for creating beauty with her hands, finding joy in crocheting and knitting treasured blankets and gifts for her family and friends. Her love for gardening highlighted her nurturing spirit, as she delighted in tending to her flowers. Additionally, Maria's appreciation for the delicate art of Japanese Bunka embroidery allowed her to craft intricate pieces that reflected her creativity and loving attention to detail.
Maria will be deeply missed by her daughter, Elizabeth Godwin, and her husband, Dan, as well as her granddaughters, Brooke, Paige, and Ashley Godwin. She is also survived by her brothers, James, George, Norbert, John, and Anthony DeAguiar, and her sisters, Bernadette Abreu and Paulina Romao. Her legacy of love and creativity will be cherished forever.
