Marie J. (Herbert) Breen

Marie J. (Herbert) Breen, age 62, devoted wife of George William Breen, Jr. passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at home in Taunton, MA, following a decline in her health over the last few months. Born in Brockton, MA, on Thursday, May 5, 1960, Marie was the daughter of John W. and Mary A. (Garcea) Herbert.

Marie grew up in Brockton, MA, graduated from Brockton High School, and continued her education at Brockton School of Nursing, graduating in 1981, however her roots were set in Taunton, MA. For 30 plus years Marie worked as a pediatric nurse at Morton Hospital in Taunton. In her early retirement she worked as an outreach nurse for the City of Taunton’s Council on Aging, and was a member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, and the Morton Hospital Retiree Association.

Marie loved to socialize and entertain with family and friends. She could be found enjoying the weather by the pool, beach, in her garden at home, or singing and dancing to her favorite tunes. She also enjoyed watching all of the New England sports teams.

In addition to her husband George, Marie is survived by her three daughters: Kaitlyn M. Breen, Angela M. Breen-Justason and her husband Adam J. Justason, and Alecia N. Breen, granddaughter Juniper M.M.-Justason, siblings Jim Herbert, John Herbert, Elaine Daversa, and William Herbert and their families. She is also survived by several of her husband George’s siblings and their families.

Visiting hours for Marie will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00PM, at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 10:00AM at Saints Martha & Mary Church 354 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. Marie will be laid to rest in Saint Francis Cemetery in Taunton, MA, following the funeral mass.
