Obituary

Marilyn L. (Hinckley) Carroll, age 85, wife of the late Richard G. Carroll Sr, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Alden Court Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fairhaven, MA, following a short illness.  Born in Boston, MA on March 3, 1937, Marilyn was the daughter of the late R. David & Helen (Cowen) Hinckley.  Marilyn graduated from Barnstable High School in 1955 and attended Becker Jr. College.  Marilyn grew up in Osterville, MA and lived in Lakeville, MA, for many years before moving to Dunedin, FL upon her retirement from St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, MA.  Marilyn was an avid reader, an enthusiastic singer and enjoyed doing puzzles & word searches, and playing bingo, but mostly loved bragging about her large and loving family to anyone who would listen. Marilyn is survived by her five children: her son Richard G. Carroll, Jr. and his wife Dottie of Myrtle Beach, SC, her daughter Patti Slom and her husband Elliott of Easton, MA, her daughter Janice Gallant and her husband Bill of Lakeville, MA, her daughter Linda Crump and her husband Tim of Nashua, NH, and her daughter Diane Fronzaglia and her husband Don of Lakeville, MA.  Marilyn was the proud grandmother of fifteen wonderful grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five nieces and 5 nephews.  Marilyn was also survived by her brother Robert Hinckley and his wife Mary Lu of Chester, VA and predeceased by her brother David Hinckley and his surviving wife Terri.  The family will be having a private graveside memorial service for Marilyn at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
