Marilyn Chartier Obituary

Marilyn A. Chartier, 92, wife of the late Ralph J. Chartier, and longtime companion of the late Francis Tees, passed away Monday, July 19, 2021, at her home in Lakeville surrounded by her family. Born on Saturday November 10, 1928, in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Abbie E. (Lewis) Demers. Marilyn moved to Middleboro when she was in the 8th grade and graduated from Middleboro High School.  She worked for New England Tel. & Tel., the National Fireworks Factory and Maria’s Gift Shop for many years.  Marilyn moved to Lakeville in 2017 to live with her daughter Michelle.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and loving sister, Marilyn lived her life with kindness in her heart. She enjoyed being with her family and seeing the little ones grow, always interested in their lives from a baseball game to getting a new home.  She never tired of their stories and never forgot a birthday, always remembering them with generosity.

Marilyn loved to play cards at the Lakeville COA and especially loved beating a special neighbor at Cribbage.  She loved to travel and spent a lot of time in Florida combing the beaches for shells for her grandchildren. Marilyn loved her lunch bunch friends and family Christmases.

In addition to her daughter Michelle McNamara of Lakeville, Marilyn is survived by her; son, Kevin Chartier and his wife Lindsey, of South Carolina. 7 grandchildren that she absolutely adored, Kimberly Shattuck of Bridgewater, Rachael Silvia of E. Bridgewater, Jacob Hewins of Middleboro, Tara Rose of Middleboro, Joseph Chartier of Somerville, Jamie D’Andrea of Middleboro and Kelli McNamara of Washington.  She also had 12 great grandchildren, Josh, Gabbie, Julia, Matthew, Sarah, Lucas, Ainsley, Violet, Max, Gavin, Amelia and Jackson, and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Marilyn came from a family of eleven. Her surviving siblings are Allen Demers of Wareham, Mona Sukeforth of Middleboro and David Demers of Middleboro.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Phyllis Moore, Lorraine Palumbo, William (Buddy) Demers, Robert Demers, Donald Demers, Lois Neilson and Ronald Demers.

Marilyn’s family will greatly miss her kindness, generosity and words of wisdom.  They feel blessed to have so many wonderful memories of such an extraordinary woman.  She will live in their hearts forever.
