Marjorie Cowan Obituary

Marjorie K. (Smith) Demers Cowan, age 89, wife of the late Laurance S. Cowan and Allen Demers, passed away Wednesday October 13, 2021, in Middleboro, MA. Born on Saturday June 4, 1932, in Great Barrington, MA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel (Turner) Smith. Marjorie grew up in Lakeville, and later moved to Middleboro. She worked as a secretary for Central Baptist Church in Middleboro and later for Songtime Radio in Braintree and Cape Cod. She planned and escorted many tours for the radio listeners throughout the US and overseas. A 1950 graduate of Middleboro High School, Marjorie served on her High School reunions each year, served as President of the Jr. Cabot club, a member of the Middleboro School Committee, and during her retirement she volunteered at the Lakeville Council on Aging and Habitat for Humanity’s Middleboro home project. Marjorie served as a Sunday school teacher, Deaconess, and Banquet committee member of the Winthrop Baptist Church. Marjorie is survived by her children Mark Demers, Scott Demers, and Debra (Demers) Davis, stepchildren Sharon Cowan, Brenda Cobb, Jude Prinzo, and Kurt and Karl Cowan, thirteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Constance McManus. Visitation for Marjorie will be held on Thursday October 21, 2021, from 4:00-7:00PM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. A graveside service will be held the following day Friday October 22, 2021, at 11:00AM in Central Cemetery in Middleboro, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be made to, Samaritan’s Purse P.O.
