Marjorie Elizabeth (Hefler) Nelson, age 84, wife of the late Fredric Nelson, passed away peacefully at her home in Middleboro, MA on Friday November 12, 2021. Born on Sunday September 12, 1937, in Brockton, MA, she was the daughter of the late W. Fred and F. Evelyn (Anderson) Hefler. Marjorie graduated from Brockton High School, class of 1955, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Gordon College in Wenham, MA. A resident of Brockton, Berkley, and most recently Middleboro, Marjorie worked as a first-grade teacher for the Berkley School system up until her retirement in 2000. She then worked as a substitute teacher in Middleboro elementary schools until fully retiring in 2018. Marjorie was a life-long member of Trinity Baptist Church in Brockton. She was active with the church in many different groups over the years. But her favorite role was as “the coffee lady” serving coffee and pastries every Sunday morning. She also was on the board of Brockton Christian School and the Elim Park Baptist Retirement Home in Meridien, CT, for many years. Marjorie and her husband loved to travel. They drove cross country every summer, often spent time on the Cape, and in New Hampshire, and enjoyed visiting family members often, and catching up with friends from college. Marjorie is survived by her daughter Lyn R. Nelson of Middleboro, nephew Dennis Johnson and his wife Karen of Plymouth, niece Naomi Johnson of Plympton, niece Becky Douglas and her husband Todd of Stratham, N.H, great nieces K.C. and Emily Johnson, and her extended family Beth, David, Amanda, and Aaron Beguerie of Sagamore Beach. Marjorie was predeceased by her sister Connie Johnson and her husband Lee. A funeral home service for Marjorie will be held on Monday November 22, 2021, at 12:00PM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 10:00AM – 12:00PM. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service in Hillcrest Cemetery in Plympton, MA.
