Maureen Holland Harris, 68, of Modesto, California died unexpectedly on June 6, 2023. She was the wife of the late Ian C. Harris. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Robert Davis and Mary Elizabeth (Peckham) Holland.
She is survived by her brothers Robert Davis Holland and his wife Ann-Marie of Middleboro, and James Peter Holland and his wife Monica of Modesto, California. She was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Mary Foye and her brother Francis Anthony Holland.
She attended Apponequet High School and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1972. Maureen worked in the banking industry for most of her career. Like her father, she was a quick study of emerging technology. She often led her bank’s IT department when banking became more computerized. Later, she worked for the Bellevue, Washington police department. Maureen retired in Modesto, California
Maureen traveled extensively. Ian and Maureen were married in Ian’s native Scotland and lived in England, the Netherlands, California, Washington, and Indiana during their marriage. Her happiest years were with Ian. She doted on her many nieces and nephews, and she was the favorite aunt to many! Maureen had a larger-than-life personality and one of Maureen’s most remarkable qualities was her generosity. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
In addition to her immediate family, she enjoyed the company of two surviving aunts and an uncle, her nieces and nephews, great nieces, and nephews, her many cousins, and many friends.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Maureen at her graveside service, which will be held privately at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middleboro.
