Michael Murphy, age 66, of Hingham, MA, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA, after a 3-month battle with non-small cell lung cancer that had metastasized to his spine. Born in Brockton, MA, on Wednesday, July 18, 1956, Michael was the son of the late Joseph and Marion (Fisher) Murphy.
Michael graduated from Brockton High School and continued his education earning his degree in culinary arts. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, where he was trained and served as a field medical technician, while stationed in Guam, earing the good conduct medal.
A longtime resident of Hingham, MA, Michael last worked for Whole Foods, and prior to that he worked as a lead pressman for the New England Art Publishing Company. He loved to travel and make memories. He also found joy in the ocean, cooking for others, and reading.
Michael is survived by his daughter Meaghan Ann Camara and her husband Sean of Acushnet, former wife, and soul partner Linda A. (Barth) Murphy, grandchildren Aidan, Lola Constance, Caylem Teaghan Camara all of Acushnet, brother Joseph Murphy Jr. and his wife Patty Murphy, nephew Brian Murphy, and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and all of his loving friends. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Shawn Murphy.
