Michael Arthur Shurtleff, age 77, husband of Carol Anne (Shanks) Shurtleff, passed away surrounded by his beloved family on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Nemasket Health Care Center in Middleboro. Born in Plymouth, MA on Tuesday, December 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Robert and Helen (DeFelice) Shurtleff. Mike attended Carver schools and Bristol County Agricultural High School. Mike grew up in Carver, and lived most of his life in Lakeville before retiring to Taunton. He worked as the groundskeeper at Apponoquet Regional High School in Lakeville. He also worked as part time fire fighter for the Town of Lakeville. Mike was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He loved spending time with his family, gardening and sharing his fruits and vegetables with his friends and family, and he also enjoyed fishing. He and his wife Carol attended Steeple Point Church, formerly First Baptist Church of Raynham. In addition to his wife Carol, Mike is survived by his; daughter Susan Fryslie and her husband Richard of New Bedford, daughter Bonnie J. Cunha of Lakeville, granddaughter Amanda Burton of Millville, granddaughter Sarah Donnelly and her husband Sean of Attleboro, grandson Seth Fryslie of New Bedford, granddaughter Kaitlyn Cunha of Fall River, and granddaughter Samantha Cunha of Alaska. Great grandfather to Abbigail Peach, Olivia, and Anderson. Brother of Deborah Sullivan of Plymouth, and Karen Tuscher of Carver. Mike was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Shurtleff, William Shurtleff, Douglas Shurtleff, and his sister Helen Dobson. A private family service will be held on Thursday July 8, 2021. The family of Michael would like to thank the staff at Nemasket Health Care Center and Continuum Hospice for their care and support to Mike and his wife Carol and family.
