Peter T. Lennon, age 75, loving husband for 52 years of Carol L. (Feist) Lennon, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Eliot Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Natick, MA. Born in Norwalk, CT, on Monday, June 30, 1947, Peter was the son of the late John C. and Elma (Martin) Lennon. After spending his first years in Connecticut, Peter and his family moved to Newbury, MA, where he graduated high school in 1966. Following his graduation from Newburyport High School, Peter proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp as an airwing helicopter gunner serving two tours during the Vietnam War. After his second tour, Peter continued his education at the former Southern Massachusetts University, (UMASS Dartmouth), graduating with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 1974. He and his wife Carol have lived in Bridgewater for the past 51 years. Peter worked for himself as a finish carpenter, using his arts degree to rebuild and restore projects in many homes in the area. Later on, he worked for the Plymouth County House of Corrections as a counselor for the re-entry program helping former inmates to reintegrate into society. Peter and Carol have been active members of the First Congregational Church at The Green in Middleboro since 1985. In addition to his wife Carol, Peter is survived by his brother John G. Lennon of Texas, close friends Anne Wentworth and her late husband Freedom of Bridgewater who welcomed Peter into their home and their two daughters Dawn Groh and Faith Boustani who Peter thought of as sisters, good friend Jim Reedy, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janet and Michael Gilman of Sanburton, NH, and his nephews Jacob, Seth, & Matthew. Peter was predeceased by his son Philip who passed away in June of 2017.
Visiting Hours for Peter will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00PM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 10:00AM, at the First Congregational Church at The Green, 6 Plympton Street, Middleboro, MA 02346. Peter will be laid to rest next to his late son Philip in the Parish Cemetery at The Green following the funeral service.
