Phyllis G. (Gurney) Sellars

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phyllis G. Sellars, age 96, beloved wife of the late Robert M. Sellars, who departed this life peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the Nemasket Healthcare Center in Middleborough. Phyllis was born on June 24, 1929, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, to the late Milton G. and Edith M. (Mort) Gurney.

Phyllis was a proud graduate of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School and dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker. Over the years, she lived in East Freetown, Lakeville, Seekonk, and Pocasset, creating cherished memories in each community. Phyllis also contributed her talents to the local economy, working for Glidden’s and Goodhue's Cash and Carry.

A woman of deep faith, Phyllis was actively involved in the East Freetown Congregational Church and the Waquoit Congregational Church, where she formed lasting friendships. She took great joy in her hobbies, particularly counted cross-stitching, which adorned many homes with her loving craftsmanship.

Phyllis is survived by her devoted daughter, Kathleen Ward, and her husband, Jim, of Middleborough, along with her sister Eleanor Tschoepe of Sun City, AZ, who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

Phyllis G. Sellars will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
