Pierrette Lemieux Obituary

Born in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada, Pierrette was the oldest of 12 children.  She married her husband, Eugene A Lemieux, in 1956 and moved to New Bedford, MA where she raised 7 children.  She was very proud of becoming a US Naturalized Citizen.  Upon the passing of her beloved husband of 45 years, she moved to Lakeville, MA.  Pierrette truly embodied ‘la joie de vivre’ (the joy of life).  During her time on this earth, she was an inspiration to all.  Even during her recent illness, she had an everlasting smile.  The swan was one of her favorite icons because she would always tell those around her that swans mated for life and therefore, her husband, Eugene, would always be her one and true love.  While ‘Gene’ was alive, Pierrette, his ‘private chauffeur’, would drive him to Association Canado-Américaine (ACA) functions all over the East Coast and Quebec, Canada.  She worked part-time as a beautician after obtaining her Cosmetology License in the 1970’s.  After that, she helped at the family business, Piping Systems, Inc. with billing and secretarial duties and was a great supporter of the organization.  She was a skilled craft person; knitting, crocheting, needle point, quilting, hand and machine embroidery were her specialties.  She was proud of her involvement with the group, “Les Tricoteuses” at St Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet, MA a group who knitted blankets for children.  She painted lovely pictures of swans, butterflies, and flowers. Her paintings were even displayed at an art exposition of Franco-American artists in Manchester, N.H.  Pierrette had a beautiful singing voice and was often called upon to share her gift. She loved doing crossword puzzles and was proud that despite the fact that English was not her native language, she was able to complete them with no cheating.  When her daughters were younger, Pierrette was active in Le Cotillon, an organization based in New Bedford, MA.  She was also a member of the LeBaron Residences ‘Red Hats Club’.

Pierrette was a devout Catholic and faithfully attended services at Sts Martha and Mary Church of St. Isidore Parish in Lakeville, MA.

In addition to her parents, Ferdinand and Germaine Bellemare, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Eugene Lemieux, her granddaughter Megan Lally, and her brothers, Lionel, Roch and Luc Bellemare.  She is survived by her children - daughter Pauline Lally and husband William Paul, Lakeville, MA; daughter Louise Loveland (widow-James), Waynesboro, PA; son Pierre Lemieux and wife Renee, New Bedford, MA; daughter Francine Lemieux, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; daughter Celine Lemieux, Elgin, SC; son Bruce Lemieux and wife Tracey, Londonderry,  NH; and son Eric Lemieux and wife Tara, Hattiesburg, MS. She is also survived by several of her siblings - sister Andrée Bellemare, Laval, Québec, brother Serge Bellemare, Laval, Québec, Cyril Bellemare and wife Jocelyne, Boucherville, Québec, brother Gilbert Bellemare (widower) Montréal, Québec; sister Françoise Monette, Laval, Québec; sister Micheline Bellemare (widow), Québec,  brother Maurice Bellemare (widower-Nicole), Chertsey, Québec; sister Hélène Bellemare-Moskaluk (widow - Alexander), Laval, Québec.
