Raymond Carasetti Obituary

Raymond Anthony Carasetti, age 89, devoted husband of Marjorie (Glawe) Carasetti, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at his home in Lakeville.

Born in Bridgewater on November 8, 1933, Ray was the son of late Anthony and Dena (Giovannini) Carasetti.  Although a long formal education was not part of his life he remained a life-long learner.  Ray honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Following his discharge, Ray returned home to Massachusetts where he met the love of his life, Marjorie Glawe on a blind date at the Snowball dance.  Ray and Marjorie (but he always called her Mickey) were married on June 28, 1959, in South Weymouth Massachusetts.  Together, they made their home in Lakeville and raised their three children.

As a young man he worked at Lucy’s Shoe Factory but retired as a Supervising Foreman at Kraft Foods.  He worked hard to balance his work and family life.  Together, the Carasetti family would spend time throughout the New England area at many beaches, mountains and National Parks, or traveling to Minnesota to visit extended family.  He had many hobbies and interests.  He loved to fish and hunt and could build pretty much anything, he was also a treasure hunter (even if most of his “treasures” came from the junk yard).  He did beautiful wood-working and carving.  Ray and Mickey both shared a wanderlust for travel and camping and spent 20 years traveling from coast to coast along with Alaska and Mexico.

He will be remembered always by his children Betty Green (Teddy), Donna Caine (Rich) and Michael Carasetti as well as his grandsons Jared and Joshua Green, Chad and Dave Graham along with five great grandchildren.  When we think of Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa the first place we imagine him is in his happy place (the garage) tinkering away at one of his many projects.  He will be greatly missed.

Ray’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the many medical professionals at Compass Medical, Good Samaritan Hospital and Accent Care Hospice.

A period of visitation celebrating Ray’s life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 2-4PM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347, followed by a funeral service.  Interment with Military Honors will be at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
