Raymond L. Smith

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond L. Smith, age 90, who departed this life peacefully on June 18, 2026, at his home in Lakeville, MA. A beloved husband, father, and friend, Ray was the cherished husband of Joyce J. (Shaw) Kish, with whom he shared 26 wonderful years.

Born on February 24, 1936, in East Bridgewater, MA, Ray was the son of the late Walter and Evelyn (Nixon) Smith. He spent his early years in East Bridgewater and Halifax before settling in Lakeville over two decades ago. Ray's hardworking nature led him to a fulfilling career as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for T.L. Edwards, where he was a valued member of the construction industry until his retirement.

Ray was not only dedicated to his work but also passionate about his hobbies. He held a deep love for horses, especially sulky and harness racing, and took great pride in nurturing his yard and garden. A member of the International Trotting and Pacers Association (I.T.P.A.), he cherished the camaraderie and shared interests of his fellow members.

In addition to his devoted wife Joyce, Ray's legacy lives on through his daughters: Colleen Anderson and her husband Scott, Suzanne Wiley and her husband Ed, Cheryl Frye and her late husband Rob, and Nancy Macedo and her fiancé Jef Goyette. He also leaves behind step-sons Matthew Kish and his wife Cherie and Jonathan Kish and his wife Keri, along with several beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his brother William Smith of Wyoming.

Ray was predeceased by his brothers Walter Smith Jr. and Richard Smith, as well as his sisters Geraldine Wilbur and Dorothy Sampson.

A memorial visitation in honor of Raymond will take place on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, located at 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 PM, allowing friends and family to gather together to celebrate the life of a remarkable man. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in honor of Raymond to a charity of your choosing.

Raymond L. Smith will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the love he shared with those around him. May he rest in peace.
