Richard Collins Bertram, age 57, loving husband of 29 years to Karen M. (Comolli) Bertram, passed away peacefully at his home in Middleboro on Sunday October 17, 2021, after a brief courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Dorchester, on Saturday February 15, 1964, he was the son of the late James J. Bertram, Sr. and Mary Dolores (Collins) Bertram. Richard grew up in Stoughton, graduating from Stoughton High School class of 1982, and has been a resident of Middleboro since 1992. Richard worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Bourne’s I.S.W.M, department. When he wasn’t working, Richard enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, which he took great pride in, traveling but above all, time spent with his family was most important. In addition to his wife Karen, Richard is survived by his three children Derek Richard Bertram and his wife Meagan of Middleboro, Stephanie Marie Bertram of Middleboro, and Zachary Collins Bertram of Middleboro. His grandson Collin Bertram, three brothers James “Jimmy” Bertram, Jr. and his wife Paula of Stoughton, John “Jack” Bertram and his wife Susan of Milton, and Paul Bertram and his wife Kim of Easton, sister Mary Beth Myer and her husband Gerry of Easton, brother in laws Mark Comolli and his wife Christene of North Kingstown, RI, and David Comolli and his wife Pebbles of Carlisle, PA, mother in law Marianne Comolli of Florida. Richard was elated to hear of the upcoming arrival of his second grandchild. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and well-loved close friends who all meant so much to him. Richard was also predeceased by his father in law, Mario Comolli formerly of Florida. Visitation for Richard will be held on Sunday October 24th from 4:00-7:00PM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday October 25th at 10AM at Sts. Martha & Mary Catholic Church (St. Isidore Parish) 354 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. Richard’s cremains will be laid to rest in Saint Mary’s Cemetery on Wood Street in Middleboro immediately following the mass.
