Richard "R.J." Blanchette Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Joseph Blanchette Jr., affectionately known as RJ, at the young age of 20. RJ left us on March 20, 2025, at Boston Medical Center due to a tragic car accident. He was born on June 1, 2004, in Boston, MA, and was a cherished lifelong resident of Middleborough.

RJ graduated from Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical High School in the class of 2022, where he honed his skills in Metal Fabrication and Welding. He took great pride in his work as a garage door installer for Mortland Door Systems, where he became known for his dedication and craftsmanship.

An adventurous spirit, RJ found joy in driving and working on his beloved car, engaging in welding projects, and expressing his creativity through music on the guitar. He treasured time spent fishing, building model cars, and creating memories with his girlfriend, Adriana, and his devoted pets, his cat Jack and dog Lilly. RJ had a heart of gold and a generous nature, always prioritizing the needs of others before his own.

He is lovingly survived by his mother, Cheryl Simmons; father, Richard Blanchette Sr.; sister, Ashlee Blanchette, and her wife, Jodie Hughes; grandmother, Joyce Bedell; Uncle Rick Bedell; grandparents, Joseph and Betty Blanchette; girlfriend Adriana Ferreira; and his dear friend, Peter Souza, who was like a brother to him. RJ was predeceased by his sister, Rachael Simmons.

In honoring RJ's life, visitation will be held at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, located at 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA, on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM.

As we gather to celebrate the life of Richard Joseph Blanchette Jr., let us remember the joy he brought to those around him and the love he so freely shared. May he rest in peace.
