Richard “Pete” A. Pierson

Richard “Pete” A. Pierson, age 91, husband of the late Dorothea “Toddy” (Federico) Pierson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home in Venice, Florida, on Friday November 26, 2021. Born in Brockton, MA, on Sunday May 19, 1930, he was the son of the late Harry G. and Helen A. (Winberg) Pierson. Pete grew up in Brockton, graduating from Brockton High School, class of 1949. Pete worked as a lineman for the former Brockton Edison Company, and Eastern Utilities, currently National Grid, from which he retired in 1990 after 35 years of service.He lived in Brockton all of his life until he moved to Bridgewater for 11 years before moving to Venice Florida, where he has lived for the past 20 years. A United States veteran, Pete proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He belonged to the Brockton Lions Club, and Brockton Country Club. Pete was an avid golfer and continued to play with friends in Florida. Pete and his late wife “Toddy” loved to travel and spend time with their grandchildren. They also spent many years exploring Florida as snowbirds. Pete loved the outdoors, taking daily walks on the beach and in the park. A man of faith, Pete attended St.Mark’s Episcopal Church in Venice, FL, and never missed his daily devotion each morning. Pete is survived by his daughters that he adored, Leslyn Pierson of Venice, FL, Susan Kelleher and her husband Timothy of Newport, RI, and Carolyn Pierson of Dracut, MA, grandchildren, Ryan Kelleher of Phoenix, AZ, Noah Kelleher of Worcester, MA, and Sarah Kelleher of Boston, MA, his brother Harry Pierson, Jr. and his wife Louise of Scarborough, ME, and his sister Lois Abromowich and her late husband Anthony of ME, many nieces and nephews, and his special friend Rita Williams of Burlington, Ontario. He was predeceased by his sister Phyllis Bystrom and her husband Robert Bystrom formerly of Bridgewater, and brother Howard Pierson. A funeral service for Pete will be held on Friday December 10, 2021 at 11:00AM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 10:00 – 11:00AM. Pete will be laid to rest with his late wife Toddy in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, immediately following the funeral service.
