Robert Hoover Obituary

Robert Alan Hoover, affectionately known as "Rebel," age 76, of Lakeville, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home on July 26, 2026, after a long battle with chronic health conditions. Born on September 2, 1949, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, he was the beloved son of the late Robert and Clara (Strogen) Hoover.

Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country honorably. Following his service, he dedicated many years to his work as a chipper at General Dynamics and Loring Tire, where he was known for his unyielding work ethic and commitment to excellence.

In addition to his professional achievements, Robert found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep passion for fishing, fixing tractors, and polishing metal. His love for the Boston Bruins, wrestling, and attending car shows brought him much happiness. Robert also took great pride in his home, tending lovingly to his rose bushes, mowing the lawn, and maintaining his cherished Crown Victoria.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sally A. (Lalond) Hoover, his son, William C. Hoover, and stepchildren Michael Smith, Lisa Marie LaRose, Paul Smith, and Kevin Smith and his wife Ana. He also leaves behind his brother, Bill Hoover and his wife Cassandra; his sisters, Penny and Pam; his mother, Clara Strogen; his uncle, Edward McClung; a stepmother, Lorraine Smith; a stepsister, Katrina Cain, and her son, Andy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and seven loving grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by his cherished daughter, Dorothy L. Hoover-Baker, and his stepson, David Smith, along with his former wife, the late Marie Elaine (Bouchie) Hoover.

Memorial visitation will be held in honor of Robert's life, on Wednesday August 12,allowing 2026, from 10:00AM - 12:00PM, at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347, followed by a memorial service at 12:00PM. Robert will be laid to rest with military honors, at the Masschusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:45PM.

Robert Hoover will be remembered as a kind-hearted individual who touched the lives of those around him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
