Bob was the beloved husband of 56years to the late Judith (Soares) Katon, who he affectionately said, “I gave the best years of my life”. Born in Taunton, MA, on Wednesday May 17, 1939, he was the only son to the late Joseph and Lucy (Lopes) Katon. A graduate of Taunton High School, Bob went on proudly serving his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard. Along with his family, he owned and operated J&R Pre-Cast Inc. a 4th generation family business located in Berkley, MA. Even in retirement he stayed busy, remaining a constant presence in the office and a longtime member of the Town of Berkley Conservation Commission. A Avid auto racing fan and admirer of classic cars, Bob was a regular at Seekonk and Thompson Speedways and remained a loyal fan of the BAR Team, cheering on the #1 Pro-Stock weekly. Bob traveled yearly to spend winters in Ormond Beach and attend the Daytona 500 and Daytona Speedweek. Bob also enjoyed the “occasional” sweet and leisurely drive in his favorite cars including a 1937 Plymouth Coupe and bright yellow Chevy SSR. He is survived by his son Robert Katon Jr. and his wife Stacey, daughter Rosemary Labonte and her husband Scott, granddaughters Ashley and Jessica Katon, and his beloved cat Fenway.
