It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert P. Skahan, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who departed this life on June 24, 2026, at Hope Health Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island, following a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was 55 years old.
Born on April 14, 1971, in Quincy, Massachusetts, Bob was the deeply cherished son of Donna Calabro (Lunetta), who lovingly raised him, and beloved son of Robert Skahan. He grew up in Marshfield, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Marshfield High School in 1990, and for the past fourteen years he made his home in Raynham.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Fernanda F. (DeSouza) Skahan; his devoted children, Anna and Gabriel; his stepson, Victor DaSilva; his sister, Pamela DeBerry, and her husband, Todd; his best friend, John Cusick; his beloved niece, Amanda, and nephew, Patrick; as well as his beloved aunt and many cherished cousins, and his great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Above all, Bob loved God first, and it was through his faith that everything else in his life found its meaning. A devoted member of Waters Church in North Attleboro, he served on the security team and took part in the men's group, but his faith was never confined to Sunday - he lived it every day, in how he treated the people around him. That love of God overflowed into a love for others that everyone could feel. He had a gift for making anyone laugh, and a way of calling each person his "best buddy" and making them believe it, because to him it was true. He cared deeply for everyone he met, and that is how he will be remembered.
Bob pursued his passion for law enforcement by earning an associate's degree in criminal justice from Massasoit Community College. He went on to graduate from the police academy and began his career in service with the Sheriff's Department. He dedicated many years to serving his community as a police officer, most recently holding the rank of lieutenant with the Massasoit police department. He also applied his skills in private security with Longwood Security.
In honor of his memory, visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, located at 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. A funeral service will follow immediately at 12:00 PM. Bob will be laid to rest at Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson, MA, at 1:30 PM.
