It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sandra Marie Furze, 77, of Middleboro, MA, who left this world on February 8, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Born on December 11, 1947, in New Bedford, MA, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Smith and Germaine (Dubois) Smith and the cherished wife of the late John T. Furze Jr.
A proud graduate of Bishop Stang High School in Dartmouth, Sandra dedicated her career to Cooper Insurance in New Bedford, where she exemplified professionalism and compassion until her retirement. Throughout her life, Sandra was an adventurer at heart, often traveling with her dear friend, Aunt Kathy Matteson, and cherishing the warmth of camaraderie shared with her Oak Point girls over lunches and card games.
Most importantly, she was a devoted mother and grandmother, finding immense joy in her daughters, Erika M. Vincent and her husband Dave of Lakeville, and Kimberly A. Durand and her husband David of Freetown. Sandra's legacy continues through her three adoring grandchildren, Abigail and Ryan Vincent, and Cole Durand, who brought her boundless pride and love.
Sandra is also survived by her four siblings-Robert Smith of Dartmouth, Michelle Darling and her husband Brian of Bonita Springs, FL, Steven Smith and his wife Deborah of Freetown, and Cynthia Smith of Palm Beach Gardens, FL-as well as several cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Sandra's remarkable life. Visiting hours will take place on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, located at 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. John Neumann Church, at 157 Middleboro Road, East Freetown, MA 02717. Following the Mass, Sandra will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband John at Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Bedford.
