It is with heavy hearts that we announce our beloved Sarah May (Simmons) Macutkiewicz passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, after a bravely fought four-year battle with Uterine Leimyosarcoma. Born on Wednesday April 21, 1976, in Bourne, MA, she was the daughter of the late Leavitt Simmons Jr. and Linda Deragon. Sarah grew up in Meredith, NH, graduating from Interlake High School, and went on to earn her bachelor’s in early childhood education from Plymouth University. She and her husband Abraham were married on September 11, 2004, and they welcomed their daughter Jennifer in 2006, and soon after their son Lucien in 2008. Together they resided in West Springfield, MA before making their home in Middleborough.
Sarah enjoyed working many holiday seasons at Mockingbird Hill Christmas Tree Farm in Lakeville owned by her family. She also enjoyed yearly camping trips with her family, as well as gardening, reading, and spending time at the lake. Despite her diagnosis, Sarah faced each day with hope, positivity, and grace. She loved her family and “her tribe” fiercely.
In addition to her husband Abe and her children Jennifer and Lucien, she leaves behind a long list of family and extended family who miss her dearly. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:30AM at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347. Sarah’s family encourages all that attend to feel free to share memories and stories to celebrate Sarah’s life.
