Shirley Mae Bramante, beloved wife of the late Dominic Bramante, peacefully passed away on December 27, 2025, at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. She was 100 years old. Born on June 15, 1925, in Dighton, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Hattie (Weldon) French.
A long-time resident of Oak Point in Middleboro, Shirley also cherished her time living in Hyannis. She graduated from the Brockton School of Nursing, then earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1972 from UMASS Dartmouth, graduating top of her class, and even earned her master’s degree in nursing education from the University of Rhode Island. She dedicated her life to the medical field as a registered nurse and later served with great passion as a professor of nursing at Cape Cod Community College. Shirley originally got her RN in the mid 1940’s through a government program called Cadet Nurses. Her commitment to caring for others extended beyond her profession; she was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Middleboro, participating in the bereavement group, serving as the church nurse, eucharistic minister, lector and contributing her beautiful voice to the choir. She was also a devoted member of the Cursillo movement within the Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul society, and women in gods spirit (WINGS). Shirley was also a member of the Middleboro Council on Aging and Middleboro Y.M.C.A. where she enjoyed taking part in the various classes such as yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and muscle conditioning, which she would regularly attend until she was almost 98 years old.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband’s Frank Jaros, Joseph Carbeau, and Dominic Bramante. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Patricia Sullivan, and her husband Stephen; her grandson Eric and his wife Katey; and her great-grandson Noah of East Taunton. She is also survived by her stepchildren: the late Christopher Carbeau and his wife Ellen of Burlington, Julie Carbeau Sacchetti of Framingham, and Jerome and Cynthia Carbeau of Millis. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous step-grandchildren, including Dr. Timothy and Rebecca Lowney, Joseph and Theresa Carbeau, James Sacchetti Jr., Aleksandra Pakulska, Elizabeth L. Sacchetti, Andrew and Jennifer Sacchetti, Jon and Jesse Carbeau, along with step great-grandchildren Elizabeth, William, Catherine, Christopher Lowney, Joseph H. Carbeau, Elena and Ryan Sacchetti, and Maximus and Xavier Pakulski.
