Solveig "Sue" (Jansson) Weston

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Solveig "Sue" (Jansson) Weston, 81, of Lakeville, MA, surrounded by her beloved family at home on September 2, 2026.

She was born on the Åland Islands, Finland, a small agricultural and fishing community on December 15, 1944, 1 of 7 children. She grew up working on her family's farm and came to the United States at 19 in search of a better life.

In 1964 she arrived in New York to start her new life. She met a handsome young man named George Weston while working at South Shore Hospital as a nurse's aid. She married the love of her life on April 30, 1966, and they were married for 60 joyful years. They had 3 children-Eric, Kristina, and Leana.

In her spare time she loved knitting, sewing, and spending time with family and friends. She was a long time member of Advent Lutheran Church of Middleboro, MA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Artur and Hulda Jansson; and her brother, Sven Jansson.

She is survived by her beloved husband, George Weston of Lakeville, MA; her children, Eric Weston and his wife Regina of Norton, Ma; Kristina Fullerton and her husband Paul of Lakeville, MA; and Leana Bilotta and her husband David of East Taunton, MA; and her cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, Lukas, Jonah, Samson, Julia, and Caleb; her sister, Anita Bergman of Åland, Finland; her sister Gunnel Saarinen of Åland, Finland; Svea Peterson and her husband Russ of Chatham, MA; Håkan Jansson of Åland, Finland; and Tore Jansson of Åland, Finland. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will dearly miss her.

Visiting hours for Solveig will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street Lakeville, MA 02347, followed by a 12:00 PM funeral home service. Solveig will be laid to rest in Precinct Cemetery on Rhode Island Road in Lakeville immediately following the funeral service.
