Stephen Adams Obituary

Stephen Patrick Adams, 62 of Middleboro MA, loving husband of 37 years to Susan (Munro) Adams, passed away suddenly on Tuesday June 22, 2021 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro MA. Born Tuesday July 29, 1958 at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Dorchester MA, Steve was the son of Thomas and Marjorie (Coyle) Adams of Whitman MA. Steve earned an Associates of Arts degree from Massasoit Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emerson College in Film Business. He worked for Plymouth Home National Bank in Brockton, Shaw’s Warehouse in East Bridgewater, Reebok Shoes in Stoughton and most recently at Boston Cedar / U.S. Lumber in Mansfield MA. Stephen was a kind, selfless, talkative, but also a shy, protective, principled and devoted man who was dedicated to his family. He was a romantic at heart, as he kept the original bank deposit slip that Susan had written her phone number on after he asked her for a date. Steve was a night owl, an avid reader, had many interests and was an old soul. He was a movie aficionado, and he and Joe Furtado, one of his best friends, were like Siskel and Ebert with their love for movies and critiques. Steve was an amateur historian and well read on the Civil War and World War II and a wealth of knowledge and self-educated on many subjects. His love of music was broad and varied over generations with an affinity for music by the Beatles and Bob Seger. He loved antique muscle cars, WWII planes and comic books and their characters and obtained an extensive movie collection. Steve was a passionate fan of all New England sports teams and helped coach youth basketball and baseball in Whitman in his younger days. He created and painted the banner that celebrated the Boston Celtics 13th NBA Championship, that was featured on the front page of the Boston Globe. But mostly Steve enjoyed spending time with Susan, his beloved wife, Shannon, his daughter and son in law Alex and was the best Grampa for Harrison and Cora, and with Ryan his son. He frequently would say that all he needed was his family. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. In addition to his wife Susan, Stephen is survived by his daughter Shannon M. Thomas and her husband Alex of Taunton MA, and son Ryan J. Adams of Middleboro MA. He was grandfather, “Grampa” to Harrison and Cora of Taunton MA. Brother of Thomas M. Adams and his wife Lynne of Marshfield Hills MA, John J. (Jack) Adams and his wife Lisa of San Anselmo CA, Michael F. Adams and his wife Heidi of Whitman MA, Mark R. Adams and his wife Nancy Milero of Bridgewater MA, and Daniel L. Adams and his wife Karyl of Whitman MA. Stephen was the brother in law of Paul J. Munro and his wife Linda of Marshfield MA, Diane L. Visser and her husband Thomas of Bridgewater MA, Stephen F. Munro of Derby CT, and Denise Munro of Kingston MA. Stephen was predeceased by his father and mother in law, John A. and Ann M. Munro formerly of Kingston MA, and his brother in law Thomas V. Munro. Steve is survived by and will be deeply missed by his many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends and co-workers.
