Walter R. Nelson

Walter R. Nelson, 97, of Brockton, MA passed away January 21, 2017 after a period of failing health.  Born January 23, 1920 in Brockton, he was the son of the late Roy A. and Minnie M. (Wood) Nelson.

Walter was a 1940 graduate of Brockton High School and a lifelong resident of the city. He worked for 47 years as a mold maker at Haskon Industries in Taunton. Walter was noted for his patriotism for his Country and unending love and dedication to his family. He was a lifelong member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brockton.

He was the loving father of Karolyn R. DeSisto and her husband William C., Kirstin R. Connolly and her husband Timothy, Walter R. Nelson, Jr. and his wife Karen and Karla R. Hunter and her husband William. Walter is also survived by five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and his devoted companion, Grace Sullivan.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 9:00 – 10:30 AM in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 900 Main St., Brockton, MA followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery in Brockton.
