William Anthony Greene

William Anthony Greene, “Bill”, age 87, loving husband of the late Edna C. (Eccleston) Greene, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Hannah B.G. Shaw Home in Middleboro, after several years of a decline in his health. Born in Middleboro, MA, on Thursday, January 30, 1936, Bill was the son of the late Sylvester and Lulu (Washburn) Greene. He graduated from Middleboro High School and was a resident of Middleboro for many years.

Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, earning the rank of Corporal, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Police Officer for the Town of Middleboro in the early 1960’s. Then as a High-Tension Line Worker for the MEVA and had many great stories of laying the lines that cross the Cape Cod Canal, followed by years in construction where he worked for Nemasket Construction, Rockland Industries, and Logan Construction. Most recent, Bill worked for Automotion, delivering cars until he was 82 years old.

Bill is survived by his son Douglas Bancroft and his wife Cheryl from Snohomish, WA, son Blaine Greene and his wife Cynthia of Middleboro, MA, daughter Stacey Young and her husband Charles of Kingston, MA, grandsons Drew Greene, Keith Greene, Kyle Young, Mackenzie Young, and Jacoby Bancroft, and great grandchildren Tyler, Jackson, Lexi, and Teddy. He was predeceased by his son Jay Greene. 

A graveside service for William will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 10:15AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery off Connery Boulevard in Bourne, MA.
