Winnie Loan, age 75, of Middleborough, Massachusetts, died peacefully at home on Tuesday June 4, 2024. Born on Monday, July 12, 1948, in Brockton, she is the daughter of Avis (Glauben) Umbrianna and the late Angelo Umbrianna. She graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School in 1966 and was lead operator of the data entry group at Foxmoor Casuals for five years before leaving the position to become mother to her son Shawn. She continued her education with classes at Middleborough High School and Massasoit Community College, studying culinary arts and woodworking.
She rededicated her life to Jesus in the mid-80s, serving in the Body of Christ, Tres Dias, and the Alpha Program. She gave herself for others as a volunteer in elementary schools and worked diligently to live a life of servitude, gratitude, and peace in Jesus. Winnie was a loving and proud grandma to Alice and Fiona Loan, and her daughter-in-law Emily was the daughter she never had.
Winnie loved to garden and enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables in her yard. Her flowers continue to bloom this summer and for many summers more, reminding us of her generosity, and gracious bright spirit. She always helped others, offering assistance, support, and even her home to those in need.
She is survived by her loving husband Thomas; son Shawn and wife Emily; sisters Norma (Burke), Gloria, Barbara, and Beverly Umbrianna; nieces Kim and Amanda; nephews Richard and Ritchie; and her granddaughters Alice and Fiona.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June15th, with a viewing from 12-2pm and a 2pm service at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home located at 280 Bedford St. in Lakeville, MA. A celebration of Winnie’s life will follow the service from 3:30-6:30 at a nearby location. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity or organization of your choosing as a tribute to Winnie’s passions.
