Marilyn A. Smith, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly in her home on December 2, 2020 after a long illness. She was 79 years old.

Marilyn was born in Newport, Rhode Island to the late John A. Putis and Ann C. (Lakowsky) Putis. She is reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Alfred E. Smith (“Smitty”), who died in 1987.

Marilyn was a graduate of Becker Junior College and worked for many years as a medical receptionist in Worcester before moving to Lakeville in 1986. She enjoyed family trips to Disney World and Amish country and loved spending time in her beautiful gardens. Marilyn was a Communicant of Sts. Martha & Mary Parish where she served as a Eucharistic minister for many years.

She is predeceased by her first born, Michael, and leaves four daughters: Jessica Smith of Warwick, Rhode Island, and her wife, Sandy; Laurie Pierce of Lakeville, Massachusetts, and her husband, Jason; Amy Marion of Raynham, Massachusetts, and her husband, David; and Beth Smith of Brunswick, Maine, and her wife, Allison. She is also survived by a sister, Doris Warren, of Auburn, Massachusetts, and her husband, Dennis; a nephew, Dennis Warren, and his son, Michael Warren; and a precious granddaughter, Riley Pierce. Marilyn will be dearly missed by her best friend and most loyal companion, Paul Favreau.

The family would like to extend its most sincere gratitude to Marilyn’s dear friend and neighbor, Mark Dube, for his tireless love and support.

Calling hours will take place on Sunday, December 6 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Martha & Mary Parish, 354 Bedford Street, Lakeville, followed by a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middleboro.

Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association in Marilyn's name.
