Alton F. Hefler, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully at home in Brockton on Saturday, July 18th surrounded by his loved ones. He was 85 years old.

Alton was born on November 11th, 1934 on Veteran’s Day. He was raised in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School in 1954. After serving in the Army he went on to Coin Electrical School, becoming a licensed electrician. He was married to his beloved wife, Donna Wilsey, in April of 1963 at North Baptist Church of Brockton. He was a 50-year member of Christ Congregational Church and enjoyed many church activities. Alton enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. He was an avid Red Sox and N.E. Patriots fan who rarely missed a game.

Alton was the son of the late John and Euna Hefler, and was preceded in death by his siblings Marilyn Saunders and Louis Hefler. He is survived by his wife Donna, of 57 years, and four children, his son Douglas Hefler and wife Patty,  and daughters, Marcia Archibald and husband Dana, Sharon Quesnel and husband Dan, as well as Jennifer Hefler, his caregiver. He had seven grandchildren, Anthony Hefler, Jonathan, Emma and the late Ryan Quesnel, Matthew, Nicole and Lauren Archibald.

Due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic, services have been delayed until mid-August for select, immediate family members. A memorial and celebration of Alton’s life will be arranged and announced as soon as it is safe to do so.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Alton's name to Christ Congregational Church 1350 Pleasant St. in Brockton, MA 02301 would be appreciated.
